Our COVID front line “essential personnel” put themselves at risk with every shift. If you know a Hero, lets recognize them with a great meal.
Patti Brown donated a $50 Gift card to Hero’s Name: Jerry Brown
Hero’s Title: Nurse
Hero’s Facility: Manor By the Sea
Jerry switched to a nursing career after using his initial degree and landing a sales position. Memories from joining the Manasquan First Aid Squad stayed with him and ultimately swayed him into a caretaking profession. After completing another round of schooling, Jerry earned his RN and began working at Manor By the Sea with seniors – a very vulnerable population when Covid hit. He hasn’t missed a day of work and is dedicated to see his patients through this very hard ordeal. Jerry himself is a new Dad with a 5 month old son waiting for him every day after work. He and his wife Lauren deserve a delicious meal at this point in their life.
Julie Thompson donated a $50 Gift card to Hero’s Name: Marissa LaRose
Hero’s Title: Nurse
Hero’s Facility: Philadelphia Children’s Hospital CHOP
Marissa LaRose is truly a hero. Marissa works as a nurse on the Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)
Marissa cares for the children at CHOP from diagnosis to discharge, and helps their families navigate their way through each step of their journey.
To wake up each day and put on her “heroes cape” to bring these children her beautiful sunshine personality on their darkest days takes the most special heart❤️
I know Marissa would not see herself as a hero, as I know she watches her beautiful resilient patients and their families face each day and sees them as the bravest people she knows.
But in a time when a family might feel hopeless, I know Marissa offers them hope by loving them and caring for them every step of the way~ and that is the heart of a true hero 💕
